Swarm at Maribrynong

Post by Dick » Sun Sep 25, 2016 5:02 pm

Posted today on our Facebook page by Katie at 1534. Must be worth a look!

'Hi! Today I found this swarm in Maribrynong, beside the bicycle path right next to the bridge on Maribrynong Ave. It's on the embankment, easily within reach of children (the primary school is barely 100 metres away). Perhaps someone would like to adopt it? I didn't want to call an exterminator if it's at all possible to save the bees.'

If you're looking for bees this season I can help. The swarm numbers are growing and bees are looking for homes.

Contact me and I can put bees in your box.

I saw Bruno today and he wanted me to let everyone know that he has swarms for sale in hives one and two boxes high.

I have no financial interest.

Phone Bruno on 6286 6377 (bh) and 0448 866 377.

Hi,
I have just set up two new hives and looking for a couple of swarms to fill them!
I don't need boxes, just the bees.

I am in Dickson.

Looking forward to hearing from you if you have a swarm or two needing a home.

Swarm (possibly) wanted

Post by RussAyres » Sat Oct 15, 2016 7:08 am

Hi. I am about to take delivery of my first hive, a Kenyan Top Bar. I have not decided how to acquire my first bees, but acquiring a swarm is of course one approach. My main hesitation is that as a newbee (pun intended) I want a reasonably placid hive. So, is there anyone on the forum who has or will have a swarm, and/or with advice about the temperament of captured swarms? Russ
